Squirrel pox!

It's good to know that someone cares about the Squirrel Nutkin's descendents, the little red squirrels in Britain.

Apparently, they're reintroducing drays of them to Yorkshire from a reserve in the Welsh island of Anglesey (aka Ynys Môn) to boost the population in the face of the evil, potentially pox-ridden American grey squirrels that are the scourge of the trees in Britain.

See the story of the reintroduction here.

And more about the folks who are trying to save them, The Friends of the Anglesey Red Squirrels, here.

You can also read about it in Welsh, if you'd like.
